The Project Accountant reports to the Controller in our Norcross, GA office. The Project Accountant supports our project teams with the day-to-day administration of project finances. This is a great opportunity for an early-career professional to learn project accounting in a professional services environment while working closely with our Controller and Team Leaders/Project Managers in multiple offices. You’ll receive training on our systems and processes and will gradually take ownership of your own set of projects as you grow in the role!

Essential Duties

Contract & Project Setup

• Set up new projects in our system based on approved proposals, including correct fee allocation to profit centers
• Maintain basic familiarity with the status and key details of assigned projects
• Help keep project information organized and up to date

Invoicing & Billing

• Generate periodic and on-demand invoices in client-specific formats
• Include reimbursable expenses and supporting documentation as needed
• Assist with billing research, troubleshooting, and follow-up with both internally and with clients

Accounts Receivable / Collections

• Generate and send monthly client statements
• Respond to missing invoice and reprint requests
• Help research and clarify unidentified client payments

Accounts Payable Support

• Assist with general accounts payable tasks as needed
• Help with credit card reconciliations/payments and expense report review/corrections

Team Leader / Project Manager Support

• Prepare and review monthly A/R reports with Team Leaders
• Communicate regularly with teams regarding project billing, collections, and project status

Desired Knowledge and Skills:

• Education or 0-2 years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related field
• Comfortable working with numbers, reports, and spreadsheets
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
• Ability to handle sensitive company and client information with discretion
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through

• Exposure to project-based or job-costing environments (e.g., construction, architecture, engineering, or other professional services)
• Experience with any ERP or accounting software (Experience with Deltek Vision or Vantagepoint is a plus!)
